PLACON

PLACON is a special-purpose centrifuge for concentration of platelets. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) means plasma containing concentrated platelets, which prompts new bone formation when added to bone grafts as gel because platelets contain growth factors such as PDGF and TGF-?.

Compared to the extant centrifugation methods, PLACON eliminates the need to set the centrifugal force and time whenever using it, and simplifies the steps into two: (1) with 2000G for 3 minutes (separating the upper layer of plasma and buffy coat from the lower layer of RBC's) and (2) with 5000G for 5 minutes (separating the upper layer of plasma from the lower layer of platelets). PLACON generates powerful centrifugal force by adopting angle rotor. Noise is almost completely eliminated. PLACON can be used easily in an outpatient setting because of its markedly smaller size than those of comparable machines with high centrifugal force.
