Since its foundation in 1998, OCT Inc has made rapid progress; obtaining the Excellent Korean Technology certificate for fundamental technology from the Korea Ministry of Science and Technology; continuously exhibiting our products at the annual meetings of ASBMR and various biotech and food related exhibitions; and marketing our products to the global market with the establishment of OCT USA, Inc.
In 2001, OCT Inc. was chosen as the leading institute for the 21st Century Frontier Project, "Discovery of Emerging Drug Candidates for Osteoporosis Therapy" by the Korea Ministry of Science and Technology, acquiring R&D support for 10 years. In 2003, we were chosen as the primary research center of the Core Accessory and Ingredient Technology Development Project titled "Development of raw materials and drug candidates for alleviation and treatment of Arthritis", supported by the Korea Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy to carry out this task for the next three years.
Products made of natural ingredients (resulting from the research process) effective in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and arthritis were launched in the United States in May of 2002, while another product was launched in domestic market via cooperation with CJ Corp. A small molecular entity effective in treating osteoporosis was isolated from natural substances and its chemical structure has been characterized. It is currently under pre-synthetic process and expected soon to go through a clinical trial (phase I) by a CRO overseas.
OCT Inc. has also developed the first domestic bovine bone graft material for further preventing loss of teeth due to paradentitis, and smooth implementation of dental implants. A further enhanced product with calcium-phosphate nano-crystal coating technology is also gaining growing support from the dental community acquiring the EU CE mark in June 2003 and US FDA approval in June 2004, proving the product's safety and excellence.
